Worth the Wait

Hi, my name is Madison and I currently live and work full-time in Guatemala with a non-profit organization/ministry called Sin Limites. I am their program coordinator and if you are new here, please check out my first blog post!

So why the title “worth the wait”?

Well if you are a friend or a family member, you more than likely know what I am talking about.

At the beginning of 2023, I stepped into an unexpected position with work. It was something that I was not prepared for and scary to say the least… There were a lot of stressful days, nights, and overall it was really hard.

Why was it hard?

Let me explain.

Well, I was physically living without my support system. The support system that I always had growing up. My parents, brother, aunts/uncles, cousins, friends, family friends, church family, etc. Who would instantly be there for me if I needed anything.

Worth the Wait

Then I realized that the support never actually stopped, it was just provided in a different way. Whether, it be through receiving messages, comments on social media, or people simply asking my family, “How is Madison?”.

And that would be my new reality! Which was fine because I decided to move and work in Guatemala full-time.

I am grateful for this stage in my life and I’m not trying to make anyone feel “bad” or say “poor Madison”. I am here to provide the truth, which is, my life is far from glamorous! So please do not be fooled by social media, I have my share of bad days as well.

So throughout those months of the unknown, I doubted myself and questioned, “Why?”, “What am I doing?”, and “Can I do this?”.

It certainly caught me by surprise, but not God.

How I moved forward…

I focused on the verse of Isaiah 60:22- “… At the right time, I, the Lord will make it happen.”

I knew that season would eventually pass and I had to wait patiently. I listened to a lot of podcasts, sermons, and had great mentors/support system. And I heard this quote that said, “Satan is the author of confusion.” Which I completely agree because this girl was definitely confused. But, months later, I can definitely say it was worth the wait!

Because during those months, He was disciplining and growing me in ways that I would have never thought.

Y’all, especially with public speaking… I would’ve never thought I’d speak in front of people to share my story or talk about my job. But it’s amazing what fear you overcome when you are passionate about something.

Worth the Wait

As of July 2023

I’m in a good place! Things are going good for me and work is going great as well! I continue my daily exercise, I’ve got great friends, a great support system, and my Faith!

I will be traveling to the U.S two more times before the end of the year! I’m excited because I will get to see my family, friends, and dogs <3

XOXO,

Madison Archer
