{"id":342,"date":"2025-12-01T04:29:54","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T04:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeofmaddi.com\/?p=342"},"modified":"2025-12-01T18:05:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T18:05:29","slug":"walking-by-faith-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeofmaddi.com\/?p=342","title":{"rendered":"Walking by Faith, Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hello everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you haven\u2019t had a chance to read, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lifeofmaddi.com\/?p=336\">A Much Bigger Reason<\/a>&#8220;, please do so.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As I mentioned earlier, I never pictured being a full-time missionary. I\u2019m just a girl who was adopted from Guatemala, raised in North Carolina, and later decided to move back to Guatemala.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But now, I can see how God is impacting my life and how He is using my life to impact others, whether that\u2019s sharing my stories or testimonies. The first was to leave Guatemala- pack up everything, say good-bye to friends and family, and move back to the United States. The second was to start my own nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)) and continue living in Guatemala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had about a month to think and pray about the decision. I shared it with others, explaining the choice I was facing. Some people were excited and encouraged me to start a new nonprofit organization. Others, however, didn\u2019t quite understand and asked many questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Questions and Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people would say, \u201cReally? That seems too much, why don\u2019t you just come home and get a job?\u201d I would respond with, \u201cI know, this is the perfect opportunity for me to leave Guatemala. But I don\u2019t feel like my time has come to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people would say, \u201cWhy don\u2019t you find another nonprofit organization to work with? Aren\u2019t there plenty in Guatemala?\u201d I would respond with, \u201cI know, but I really want to continue working with the same families in this village.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some people would say, \u201cDo you really want to start a nonprofit organization? Do you know how hard it is and all that it requires? It\u2019s not as easy as you think.\u201d I would respond, \u201cYes, I know that it will require a lot, and I feel like this will take my faith to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of those questions felt completely valid, giving me every excuse and reason to wait- because I\u2019m too young, it\u2019s a challenge, it costs money, etc. But I knew God was calling me to something bigger because He reminded me of His faithfulness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reminded me of why the passion was placed in my heart in the first place. He reminded me of how He has provided and met my needs. Like I said, some people were completely supportive and encouraged me to start a new nonprofit organization, while others asked questions and offered advice out of love, wanting the best for me.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One day, while I was stressing over this decision, I felt God say to me, \u201cStay. Your work in Guatemala is not finished, and I need you to be obedient to Me, even when others do not understand.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ever since that day, I felt peace about starting a nonprofit organization and staying in Guatemala.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jeremiah 29:11- \u201cFor I know the plans I have for you,\u2019 declares the Lord, \u2018plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God has taught me the importance of being obedient&#8230; Sometimes what He asks us to do won\u2019t make sense, won\u2019t fit our timeline, or won\u2019t look picture-perfect. Listen, there have been times when I\u2019ve said, \u201cYes, I\u2019ll do it,\u201d and it doesn\u2019t make sense at all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When God would tell me, \u201cDonate to this person or family. Buy this family lunch. Pay this person for their time,\u201d I would try to bargain with Him and give every excuse of why I shouldn\u2019t do it. But ultimately, He won!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not my job to control everything and worry about the future.
